… Ashtray WHO??? You may well say … for alas it has been well over a year since Ashtray Boy has activated the yahoo newsletter channels. We have also added a few new email addresses to our list of our own accord (shameless!) so just reply to this message if you do not want to be on our list. Ashtray Boy has been lying low here in Melbourne, but certainly not thrown in the towel, oh contraire! Since 2005 when we began to play with David Nichols (Cannanes, Huon, Grey Tapes, Driving Past ….. that’s enough, really David you are almost greedy) we’ve only played a few shows but have made compilation contributions to Melbourne Water 2 (Spill) and the 33 1/3 (Jacana) and written and begun recording about a half dozen new tunes. The band (or some variation of it) is about to embark on a few shows in the US and Canada but Randall and Carla are sad to say that David will not be able to join them >SIGH<. Justin Burch of inspaceno! will join us on tubs in Portland and some friend of a friend who says he can play will grace the stage in Vancouver(!) We are also looking for an outlet for our ‘reams’ of material released in Australia and Europe but never seen in North America (except perhaps at Red Cat and Zulu in Vancouver). If you or someone you know is in Portland, Vancouver or Chicago help us to get the word out about our upcoming shows! If you are elsewhere, send us a line, let us know you still care, join our myspace community … and hopefully we’ll cross paths in future. |
